Molehill Mountains

This series of three oil paintings forms a landscape made of rough almost quilted textures and patterns. Looking quickly, the three panels may form a mountain range. But on closer inspection details emerge that suggest a wildly different scale. Closer now, the shapes seem to suggest both simultaneously. Is this a Californian mountain range at a bird’s-eye view, or a row of desert shrubs seen from the base of the earth? The one carries the other.
